Tarangire National Park, located in northern Tanzania, is one of the country's most scenic and wildlife-rich parks. It is best known for its large elephant herds, iconic baobab trees, and diverse ecosystems. Covering approximately 2,850 km² (1,100 sq mi), the park is part of the larger Tarangire-Manyara ecosystem and serves as a vital wildlife corridor.

Wildlife and Ecosystem

Tarangire has a high concentration ofwildlife, especially during the dry season (June–October), when animals gather around the Tarangire River,the park’s only permanent water source. Key speciesinclude:

Elephants – Some of the largest elephant populations in East Africa

Big Cats – Lions, leopards, and cheetahs

African Wild Dogs – Occasionally spotted

Herbivores – Giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeests, elands, and impalas

Best Time to Visit
